The top UC Berkeley stories of 2020
For UC Berkeley, 2020 was a year of celebrating extraordinary achievements and rising to unprecedented challenges. The campus won two Nobel Prizes, removed names from three buildings, and celebrated “150 Years of Women at Berkeley.” Scientists popped up a state-of-the-art COVID-19 testing laboratory; graduate students began to mix nearly 500 gallons of hand sanitizer a week; and students built a virtual Cal campus using Minecraft where they held their virtual commencement.
